WALLPAPER HANGING INSTRUCTIONS

Please read these instructions before hanging our wallpaper.

NON-WOVEN

PASTE THE WALL

  1. INSPECT EACH ROLL

Before cutting and hanging this wallpaper, ensure that all rolls are in good condition, have no shade variation and that no other faults are present. Please ensure that there are enough rolls to complete the job.

Do not assume that the wallpaper will come off the roll correct way up.

  1. SURFACE PREPARATION

The surface must be dry, stable evenly absorbent, clean, plain, and smooth. Old wallcoverings and soluble paints must be removed. Cracks and holes should be filled if necessary, and particularly absorbent surfaces should be pre-coated with wallpaper paste. Prime old, sandy plaster with water-based primer if possible. Important: Non-woven wallpapers should be hung on surfaces of uniform colour. You should ideally use a branded paste for non-woven wallpaper and follow the instructions specified.

We recommend ROMAN PRO – 880 ultra clear strippable wallpaper adhesive

  1. PASTING AND HANGING

This is a PASTE THE WALL PRODUCT.  Paste is applied to the wall and not the back of the wallpaper

  • Paste should be evenly applied to the wall to hang 1 length at a time, to an area slightly wider than the width of the roll.
  • Ensure that the first length is vertically plumb so that subsequent lengths are also hung straight.
  • Non-woven wallpaper can be hung directly onto the pasted wall and unrolled without soaking.
  • Butt joins and use a decorator’s brush or cloth to smooth down the wallpaper, working from the center to the edges to express air bubbles.
  • Avoid squeezing paste out of joins and ensure paste does not get onto the brush or roller. Should any paste have been allowed to come into contact with the surface, it should be lightly sponged off whilst moist, using a clean, damp sponge.

The length can be trimmed at the top and bottom. Subsequent wallpaper lengths can now be hung, ensuring a good butt joint. A seam roller can be used to work the joint area if required. It is important to avoid excessive heat or draughts when hanging and drying wallpaper. The ideal working temperature is between 18c and 25c.

NON-WOVEN WALLPAPERS REMOVE EASILY IF STRIPPABLE GLUE IS USED

When hung using a strippable paste our wallpapers are easily removed and do not cause any damage to the walls. It can be done without the use of special tools or chemicals, simply wet the paper with a damp sponge and pull the paper from the wall starting with the bottom of each strip.
